BALUMAMA TEMPLE,ADAMAPUR.

We started our journey from vasco and our first destination of the day was balumama temple. This temple is located in the Adamapur village ,Bhudargad taluka ,kolhapur district of Maharasthra. This temple is dedicated to saint Balumama who was a Shephard belonging to Dhangar community . 

He was known to be the practical guide of the villagers and people used to believe in him Balumama, born as Ballappa on October 3, 1892, hailed from a shepherd family in the village of Akkol in the Chikkodi taluk of Belgaum district, Karnataka.Even as a child, he displayed an innate inclination towards meditation and spirituality. His parents noticed his unique behavior, but they couldn’t fully comprehend his spiritual calling.Sent away to work at Chandu Sheth’s home, he tended a flock of sheep. It was during this time that he earned the nickname “Balumama.

Divine energy of  Balumama

Milking a Cow: When he arrived at Chandu Sheth’s home, the cow there wasn’t giving milk. Balumama miraculously made her yield milk.

Creating Money: A man sought financial help for his wife’s surgical treatment. Balumama prayed to Goddess Earth, struck the ground with his stick, and money appeared.

Loni Miracle: Balumama intervened when a woman refused to give freshly made white butter (loni) to children. He ordered the clay vessel to stop providing loni.


He was known to be the practical guide of the villagers and people used to believe in him.  Balumama’s spiritual journey led him to attain samadhi at the age of 73 in 1966 in the village of Adamapur in the Kolhapur district of Maharashtra. A temple was erected in his memory at Adamapur, situated between Nipani in Karnataka and Radhanagari in Maharashtra. This temple is managed by the Shri Balumama Sansthana



On forehead they apply Bhandara (भंडारा).  People say that eating this bhandara in the morning before 7 am is beneficial for the health . I don't know the reality of this saying but people believe it . I would like to know the reason one day , also there is TV serial in marathi on the Saint Balumama spreading awareness of his teachings .

MAYURESHWAR TEMPLE Ashtavinayak yatra starts from Mayureshwar temple it is said that the coconut should be offered to god that single coconut should be carried while visiting the temples Ashtavinayak.
